Meeting Summaries

At an April 30, 2012 meeting of the Côte Saint-Luc Cats Committee, chaired by Councillor Mike Cohen, three other councillors were in attendance: Sam Goldbloom, now a full fledged member of the committee and a new cat owner; Steven Erdelyi and Dida Berku.

FUNDRAISING CONCERT

Lucy Ravinsky joined us on behalf of her husband Joseph Milo, the conductor of the Musicians of the World Orchestra (http://www.musiciansoftheworld.ca). They have been rehearsing at CSL City Hall for many years and as part of the arrangement, they agree to perform a free concert once a year. The CSL Cats Committee will be the 2012 beneficiary. Our event is scheduled to take place on Tuesday evening, August 21 (7:30 p.m.) at the Giovanni Palatucci (former Wagar High School) Auditorium (5785 Parkhaven). Lucy announced the theme for the evening as The Best of Broadway and Film: The Cat’s Meow. Plans call for the orchestra to perform for between 30 to 60 minutes (likely the latter). We will use this event as a tool not only to raise some dollars, but to raise awareness of our cause. Fern Collier Pereira will chair the committee and work with the city’s Public Affairs and Communications Department, which will assist with the development of posters, other publicity and tickets.

CAT LICENSING BY-LAW

A lengthy and interesting discussion ensued regarding a proposed cat licensing by-law, a first for CSL.  Legal Counsel Andrea Charon shared with the committee aspects of her draft, seeking consensus on some key components.

TRAPPERS

More volunteers are needed to assist with the trapping of cats. They will be trained by Shelley Schecter.
